Alhumdulillah, with the grace of Almighty Allah, the ever efficient Waseela of the our Habeeb (peace be upon him) and the gracious gaze of the Auliya-e-Kaamileen, and the generous contributions of our donors, the SJUSA announces the structural completion of the Islamic Centre situated in Overport.
This facility will accommodate our social and educational departments, elementary Madressah classes, adult classes and the Islamic college for females amongst the many activities seeking to uplift the community.
Our focus has now shifted to the fitments and fixtures (eg. desks, chairs, cupboards etc.) and should you wish to be a part of this project, please do not hesitate to contact us.
The Sunni Jamiatul Ulama of South Africa was established in 1979 by a modest number of Ulama with the primary objective of convening a Theological body that would be able to address the various social, welfare, educational and spiritual needs of the community. Secondarily to preserve and to promote the pristine teachings of the Ahle Sunnah wal Jamaah and the spiritually uplifting practices associated with the Sunni fraternity.
Founded by passion, sincerity and dedication, it is only with the Grace of Allah, the compassionate gaze of His Habeeb Muhammad Mustafa (peace and salutations be upon him), and the luminosity of the Aulia-e-Kaamileen that the SJUSA has managed to overcome the initial challenges of meager resources to prevail as an internationally recognised Ulama body of great substance and repute.
The SJUSA was deemed worthy of benediction from glorious international ambassadors of Islam such as the likes of (May Allah shower His choicest Mercy and Blessings upon them);
Hazrat Allamah Moulana Shah Ahmed Noorani Siddiqui
Hazrat Allamah Professor Shah Fareedul Haq
Hazrat Allamah Sayyid Turabul Haq Shah
Hazrat Allamah Sayyid Hasseenudin Shah
Hazrat Allamah Moulana Khushtar Qadri Razvi
Throughout the years, the helm of the SJUSA had been steered by local stalwarts comprising both erudite Islamic scholars and Spiritual Guides such as the likes of (May Allah shower His choicest Mercy and Blessings upon them);
Marhoom Dr. Moulana Abbas Khan Ashrafi
Marhoom Moulana Abdus Sattar
Marhoom Moulana Feisal Khan Ashrafi
Marhoom Hazrat Moeen Qazi Chishtee Habeebi
The daily activities of the SJUSA embodies the vision of its founders decades ago, and is a hive of operations encompassing all relevant Islamic services to the Muslim community at large. However, the dawn of democracy in South Africa with its racial, cultural and religious diversities has necessitated further engagement with non-Muslim entities to educate and create awareness in regards to the unique life model and sets of laws applicable to Muslims. The SJUSA has established a rapport with government, corporate and educational institutions who frequently seek our input prior to implementing structures, strategies, or operational adjustments which may adversely affect or be deemed offensive to the beliefs and practices of Muslim staff, students etc. Our services are offered gratis (free of charge).
